FINAL Assignment! Due 5/15
Charitable Giving #2 Charitable Giving #2 Due 5/15 Last week I asked you to watch a TED Talk and interview two people about charitable giving. This week, I would like you to research your own organizations and make donations to ones you feel fit your values best. First, we need some money to work with. Recently, there was a government stimulus payment made to individuals who make less than $75,000 per year ($1,200) and couples ($2,400) who make less than $150,000 per year. The intention of the payment is to help people who are struggling financially due to job or income loss or to encourage people to spend money on things like eating out at restaurants, buying items, or charitable contributions. You now have $1,200 to donate to one or more organizations. You can also buy yourself something on your wish list. Part 1: Read the article, Want To Donate Your Stimulus Check? Here's How Some Washingtonians Did It and answer the following questions.
Part 2: Your turn Research two organizations that you would like to consider making a donation to. Thye can be local, like the La Plata County Humane Society or international, like the World Wildlife Fund. Suggestion: If you’re unsure of where to start Google your interest and see what comes up. For example, if I am interested in donating money to help feed hungry kids in the US a Google search of “hungry kids nonprofit” brings up No Kid Hungry . On the main page is an article linked about helping kids affected by COVID-19. Now, your turn. Organization #1:

Part 3 You had $1,200 to spend: How did you spend it (charitable giving, personal spending) and what is your reasoning?
